JCQLN x Hympala

CollabsApr 28, 20261 min read

For a stretch, Hympala had a hairdresser working inside the store. Jacqueline brought scissors and clippers into the same square meters as the clothing.

Jacqueline is a trained hairdresser with time in London and Paris, and she came back to Hasselt with a specific approach: cuts built around the person sitting down, not around what's trending. The goal was personality, not a reference image. That made sense in a store that thinks about clothing the same way.

Jacqueline has since opened her own place. The chapter at Hympala is closed. But it proved something about what a retail space can hold: a gallery at Kunstennacht, a party venue at Jeneverfeesten, a hair salon on appointment. The definition of what a store does doesn't have to stop at clothing.
